New AS specification

As well as getting the new modules for the A2 qualification together, we are also in the process of updating the new AS/first year of the new A level.  Most of the content remains unchanged.  It is however, now out with the term van der Waals’ which we now have to call induced dipole-dipole interactions or London forces, we will now have to calculate gradients to find rates of reaction, define enthalpy of neutralisation, use the ideal gas equation and now we have to include fluorine in with oxygen and nitrogen when talking about hydrogen bonding.  And halogenoalkanes will now be haloalkanes.  There will be a sigh of relief I’m sure at the removal of the resources section from teachers that always struggled with this unit.
